Over the last four years, our Hospital Quality Improvement Contractors (HQIC) participants experienced a turbulent time, enduring a pandemic, workforce shortages and increased workplace violence. Despite these challenges, they persevered to continue improving the quality and safety of healthcare for patients in the United States and beyond.

To celebrate this commitment, Health Quality Innovators (HQI) is providing recognition to our hospitals for their performance in over 30 focus areas, including:

  • Improvement or sustainment of performance in quality and patient safety measures.
  • Overall engagement and participation during the contract.
  • Sharing lessons learned and best practices through newsletter articles, featured speakers and affinity groups.
  • Implementation of key leadership, person/family engagement and health equity structural measures.

All eligible hospitals will be awarded Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze medals based on their performance. The HQIC program focuses on a commitment to improving quality and patient safety, providing person-centered and equitable care and producing better health outcomes.

Some of our collective HQIC accomplishments include:

  • A 65% relative improvement rate (RIR) in central-line associated blood stream infections (CLABSI).
  • A 26% RIR in 30-day sepsis mortality rates.
  • A 12% RIR in 30-day readmission rates.
  • A 44% RIR in Stage 3 or 4 Hospital Acquired Pressure Injuries (HAPIs).
  • 80% of our partner hospitals are now conducting shift change huddles and bedside shift reports with patients and families.
  • Over 90% of our partner hospitals are now conducting screenings for social drivers of health (SDOH).
  • Over 84% of our partner hospitals are collecting health equity data.
  • Over 70% of our partner hospitals have established workplace violence as a strategic priority.

HQI congratulates our partner hospitals who received recognition and expresses sincere gratitude for their commitment to make a lasting impact in the healthcare community.

Please note, this is an HQI internal recognition only. It will not be publicly reported or impact your ranking in any quality improvement programs from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
