Patient Safety Awareness Week, recognized annually, will take place March 8–14, 2026. This observance highlights the shared responsibility to strengthen safety across the healthcare system and encourages patients, providers and organizations to deepen their understanding of safety practices. It also supports initiatives that protect both those receiving care and the workforce delivering it.

Led by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), the week sparks important conversations and inspires action to advance safe, reliable care. It also serves as a dedicated platform to recognize the significant work already underway in healthcare organizations nationwide.

At HQI, patient safety is central to every project and partnership. Our team remains committed to helping organizations build strong safety cultures, reduce harm and continually improve care quality – not only this week, but all year long.
