Health Quality Innovators (HQI) is seeking an experienced MDS Quality Improvement Consultant to assist nursing homes in strengthening quality measure performance, improving MDS accuracy, supporting reimbursement success, and advancing quality outcomes.
This position is ideal for candidates with extensive nursing home experience and deep expertise in Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) processes, MDS coding, reimbursement systems, quality measures, and QAPI.
What You’ll Do
- Provide expert consultation regarding MDS processes and coding accuracy
- Assist facilities in identifying quality measure opportunities and improvement strategies
- Coach clinical teams on MDS documentation and assessment practices
- Support Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities
- Perform root cause analyses related to quality measure performance
- Educate facility leadership, MDS coordinators, and interdisciplinary teams
- Interpret regulatory guidance and assist with implementation
- Collaborate with HQI nursing home subject matter experts
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Registered Nurse
- Minimum 3 years of nursing home experience
- Demonstrated experience with MDS assessment processes
- Strong knowledge of CMS Quality Measures
- Experience providing education and coaching to healthcare teams
Preferred Qualifications
- RAC-CT Certification
- MDS Coordinator experience
- Reimbursement or Medicare PPS experience
- QAPI Certified Professional (QCP)
- Experience as a Director of Nursing, MDS Coordinator, Clinical Reimbursement Specialist, Regional Clinical Consultant, or similar role
- Experience improving facility quality measure outcomes

Travel:
- Limited (<15%) state/regional travel may be required for QICs who reside in the Southeast to visit provider locations. Some non-standard hours may be required for QICs who reside outside the Eastern time zone to support providers or collaborate with colleagues. Travel to Richmond, Virginia for annual all-company meeting is required.

Salary:
Hiring Range – $65,000 – $90,000
Salary Range – $69,503 – $98,765
